Valitor
Valitor was founded in 1983 by five banks and thirteen savings banks under the name Visa Iceland. In 2015, the payment processor was selected as one of six companies to service ApplePay in Europe. Valitor was acquired by Rapyd in July 2021.
Valitor is a provider of payment and merchant services that include issuing of cards and acquiring card transactions, provision of consumer loans, and various other payment-related services. Valitor provides face-to-face and online payment solutions for small and mid-sized businesses in the UK and Ireland.
Valitor’s payment solutions target restaurants and businesses operating in the retail, service, and leisure sectors. They service thousands of merchants and sales outlets by acquiring their online and offline transactions. Acquiring involves facilitating the transfer of transactions between the cardholder and the merchant.
Valitor was an early adopter of the Payment Facilitator model and partners with big names such as Klarna or Mollie.
