Yoco

A growing African Fintech

Yoco is a payments and software company that offers small businesses in South Africa an easy way to accept card payments. It allegedly powers 100,000 small businesses in South Africa to get paid in-store, online, and on the go. Bradley WattrusCarl WazenKatlego Maphai, and Lungisa Matshoba founded the company in 2013.

With Yoco Link, merchants can accept card payments online without a website and reach customers everywhere online. They can be paid via Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, SMS, email, and more.

All Yoco Link transactions are protected by advanced 3D Secure technology. In addition, one is notified immediately when a customer pays.

Yoco expanded its product offering in 2017 with the launch of a point-of-sale application for independent retailers and a working capital product that enables merchants to receive an instant cash advance.

Yoco has launched a partnership with accounting software provider Xero and point-of-sale providers Vend and iKentoo to provide a fully integrated experience for its merchants. The company recently began expanding into sub-Saharan Africa.

Today, the small business and financial inclusion-focused firm is South Africa’s largest payment platform, processing over $1 billion in card payments annually as a preferred digital payments solution for over 150,000 small and micro merchants across the country.
